Description:
Part of the Parsons Redefining Luxury Initiative, this discussion explores craft and our definitions of craftsmanship in the shifting landscape of Luxury. Traditional perceptions of Luxury have their origin in Savoir Faire or the heritage of craft- how to work with the finest materials in the most exceptional way.  As this “know-how” shifts from maker to the influencer, what role does craft play in creating luxury products and experiences?  How does our perception of craft and execution differ when luxury is understood and defined in the digital realm?  Who determines, and how do we define our understanding of high craftsmanship? How do the expectations of thoughtful making and production change across culture or generational demographics?
